Student Labourer

CESSCO Fabrication and Engineering Ltd.
  • Edmonton

Description

CESSCO Fabrication & Engineering is hiring a Student Labourer to join our team at our pressure vessel fabrication shop in Edmonton, AB.

Labourers are responsible for supporting production activities throughout the fabrication facility. There are a wide range of activities involved, and so their ability to multitask and remain organized is very important. They assist welders, fitters, machine operators, and supervisors by performing material handling, housekeeping, equipment support, and general labour duties. They are also responsible for following safety practices and internal standards for quality and productivity.

Some of their key responsibilities include assisting with fabrication and assembly activities; operating forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment; and performing grinding deburring, cleaning, and preparation of materials and fabricated components. Additionally, our Student Labourer would help our team by removing scrap material from production areas, maintaining a clean, organized work environment, inspecting tools and equipment for deficiencies, and working cooperatively with production, quality control, maintenance, and management personnel.

Safety is important to us, and we consider an ability to work safely in a heavy industrial environment to be critically important. It's also why part of the Student Labourer's role is to participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. Following all company safety policies and safe work practices, including wearing and maintaining PPE is also very important. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to use hand and power tools safely and think and react quickly in a dynamic environment. While we only require a High School diploma or equivalent, we would consider any certifications like WHMIS, CSTS, or Forklift and Overhead Crane certifications to be an asset.

This is a full-time position, with 40 hours of work available, and it pays $17.51 per hour. There is no previous experience required, but we would consider past work in a shop or warehouse, on a construction site, or in another industrial environment to be an asset. We care more about your ability to learn and follow both written and verbal instructions than prior experience.

If you're interested in working with us as a Student Labourer, you can submit your application through the form below.
